Private Institutes "Hakwons" are
the places easiest to find when looking for a teaching
position with just a university graduate or a junior
college graduate with an English or Educational degree.
Hakwons will be the ideal place for newcomers or inexperienced
teachers to start from. You may build character and
skill while storing your experience.
Experiences
you have made can use towards your future job either
back at home or just to find a better opportunity in
Korea.
Many
Hakwans are available all around Korea, particularly
in the Chongno, Shinchon, Kangnam, and the Kyongi Province
area (Pundang, Ilsan, Sanbon, Ansan, Su-Ji, and more)
Institutes
will offer you all the basic work condition from free
housing, free airfare, visa sponsorship, overtime pay
and severance pay. But they aren'>t the best payers.
There
are two basic kinds of schedules:
Children
institutes are from Monday through Friday, with occasional
Saturdays. The working hours are from 9AM to 8PM with
breaks in between.
Adult
institutes are from Monday through Friday, with No Saturdays.
The working hours are a split shift, early hours from
6AM to 9AM and evening hours 5PM to 9PM with options
to teach in between. Privates Lessons are an option
but not advisable. If caught, you may be fine, fired
by you employer and deported out of Korea.
So,
if you have the experience, you may get a better salary
and a better working condition. But for you beginners,
institutes are only the places hiring beginners.
Going
through recruiters are advisable. Be careful in choosing
the right recruiters. Some will charge the teachers
a fee.
We
at OkayKorea.com won't charge you even a penny. It's
absolutely free and run by English Teachers, residing
in Korea. And we know the in's and out's in defending
the teachers incase of any mishaps. |

Agencies are companies that provide teachers
classes for Korean Businesses or for the School at a
fee.
Unfortunately,
many agencies are run by unorganized Korean and sometimes
even charge teachers a work fee. Usually, agencies are
run by experience teachers are advisable. They will
to look for an appropriate position for teachers. And
knows the in's and out's in defending the teachers incase
of any mishaps.
Travel
teaching will earn you a better pay. The salary will
range from 20,000 to 50,000 on the hourly rate. But
there are no benefits and a commission of 50-70% will
be taken by the agency. Finding a block schedule will
be difficult. If you choose to travel teach, then you
will be working during the business workers off hours.
Sometimes, agencies will have you travel for an hour
or two to teach an hour of class without transportation
money.
Take
into consideration teaching at an institute offers block
schedules. They will offer you 15,000 per class teaching
3 to 4 classes at a time. This will give you an opportunity
to earn a decent salary without traveling.
With
travel teaching, students will lack the effort in their
studies because the English classes are offered for
free. So the level of commitment will be far lower and
the class will be far boring than expected. If you end
up with the some boring business people. Good Luck!!!
Take

The minimal pay for private lesson is 25,000won.
It is very much unsteady but high paying and very much
illegal. If you happen to get caught by either your
employer or immigration. You will be fined, fired from
your current job and deported.
Private
Lessons are easy to do but hard to come across. Sometimes,
your regular class students might want you to have private
lessons. Advertising and going through agencies, and
institutes are the best way to find private lessons
at a certain commission fee.
Of
course, the more that you advertise the greater the
chance of getting caught and being deported.
Suppose
you are willing to the risk then you will be able to
make some serious money.
Your
advertising techniques will have to be creative as most
conventional. For example you could try looking for
private lessons in the Kangnam, Pundang, Songbuk-dong
and any areas of Seoul.
Maybe
you post fliers or hand out leaflets. Even posters announcing
your services at a few universities may prove successful
and postings advertisements on the Internet might stimulate
some interest. You may even post advertisements with
www.OkayKorea.com.
Always
keep your eyes open on our Website or any job boards
all across Korea. |
