The Korean language
is called "Han Kook Uh." King
SeJong (¼¼Á¾´ë¿Õ) invented the Korean Alphabet
(Hangul) in the 15th century. The alphabet
is composed of 14 consonants and 10 simple
vowels, which makes the alphabet very easy
to learn. In the Korean Language, all syllables
are a combination of at least one consonant
and one vowel. Grammar and phonetics, however,
are very different from English. There
are many sounds in Korean that do not exist
in English; hence, it might be difficult
initially for English-speakers to learn
the language.
Many schools and institutions offer Korean
language courses for foreigners. Foreigners
residing in Korea may attend classes in
order to speak, write and understand the
language. Learning Korean will make your
stay in Korea more enjoyable.
